I do not know if it was because we were nearing the end of our cruise or if it really was more insistent, but the lack of water seemed to be on the lips of every tourist guide no matter the location. It seemed even more so in Valletta on the island of Malta. The irony was that everywhere there were flowers. Even though I know, bougainvillea is pretty happy in dry areas from our time living in Southern California. It just seemed like there was a fair amount of sharing going on with thirsty flowering plants. The further irony was that the only place it rained across the Mediterranean was in Valletta. Not hard, but rain it was.
