I heard once that what a photographer is supposed to do is look for perfection in subjects such as flowers. I certainly appreciate the notion, but the imperfections are what is interesting. Growing zinnias is something that I do almost every year. I do so because I like the wide coloration, and the monarchs that hang around the neighborhood seem to like them. The bonus is that I don’t seem to kill them, and they produce a bountiful crop.
