Isabella was very unhappy on that day in Scranton, PA. It was her christening, and we had driven two hours from Ithaca to a little Catholic church in what I took to be the poorer side of town. In front of the church was a garden which, among other plants, had some wonderful sunflowers. I had never seen these varieties previously. I thought the colors were so rich and deep. So in between the crying and the christening I took a few photographs of the lovely flowers in front of the little Catholic church in the poorer part of Scranton, PA. When she was properly christened, Isabella returned to the activities of a very tiny baby minus the crying.
